This year's Quiz Bowl has the delicious theme: "Du bist, was du isst." While there are countless good German things to eat and countless sources of information about them, the Quiz Bowl will be based in large part on the new web page of the German Agricultural Marketing Board for the United States and Canada. Although the web page is still under construction, there is plenty of information in both German and English under the "Get the Info" button at:
Students who wish to star in the Quiz Bowl should study the written information carefully in the first three categories (Delicious Deutschland, Eating Habits, and Food and Festivals). They should also be able to connect the illustrations with the German name for the food described. Everyone should learn at least the first seven (7) vocabulary items for each letter in the "Learn the Lingo" food lexicon. They should at least browse briefly through the "Get Cooking" section, where the recipes are given in German (with helpful vocabulary explanations) but where there are great pictures showing the results.
