2005 Scholarships

1st Place Winner: Bethany Dusseau
Last summer I traveled to Krefeld, Germany with twenty-seven other students from Indiana through the IU Honors Program. Words cannot express how amazing this experience was for me. For seven weeks I lived with a German family. Every day I attended classes in Krefeld and spent the afternoon and evening with my family. As a group, all of the IU Honors students traveled to Aachen, Kšln, and Berlin. I also had the opportunity to attend a German wedding and Abitur Ball with my family. Because of my trip, I was able to experience the German culture and became more fluent in the language. Without a doubt, going to Germany was the most amazing experience of my life. Thanks again for making it possible!

2nd Place Winner: Stephanie Paulson
I had an unforgettable experience in Krefeld. I became very independent and learned many life skills while in Krefeld. I also made many life-long friends and I have a second family with whom I am still in touch. Although I had a difficult time dealing with culture shock during the first week, I eventually adjusted, developed a routine, and soon never wanted to leave! I had so much fun in Krefeld and I have memories from that trip that I will continue to share for the rest of my life. I appreciate all the help and support I received from the IASG and the scholarship I earned. It helped me experience something that everyone should!
