2003 Scholarships

1st Place Winner: Levi Wilson, Huntington HS, Huntington, IN
Last summer for me was awesome. I went to study German in Krefeld, Germany. The Program that I studied through was the Indiana University Honor Program for High School Students in Foreign Languages.
So let me just run through my day and tell you what I exactly did while I was there. Monday through Friday I would wake up around 7:00 and arrive at the school at 8:00. The day was composed of a Grammar, Phonetics, Culture, and Literature. After the school day was over my group, which contain 21 other students from Indiana and 4 teachers, would go and play some sports. So not only did I learn a great deal but I also experienced the culture.
I deeply thank you for granting me the IASG scholarship. This scholarship pulled a large part in paying for this program and without you help I do not think I would have been able to attend the program. That is a very important because this program made up my mind that I want to further my education in German and pursue a career using my skills. thank you.

2nd Place Winner: Matt Potasnik, Hamilton Southeastern HS, Fishers, IN
I would like to thank you for your generosity in awarding me with a scholarship for my trip to Germany last summer. I attended the I.U. Honors Program in Krefeld, and I can only say it was the experience of a life time. In this program, I was able to live with a German family, attend school through I.U. for six weeks, all the while speaking German.
I was able to further my abilities through classes in phonetics, grammar, literature, culture, and conversation. Not only was I able to learn the German language and culture through classes, but also through amazing trips to cities such as Cologne, Aachen, Bonn, Trier, and the list goes on. Another integral part of the trip was the family stay, where I was able to actually live and interact with a German family, and I couldn't have been happier with it. I would like to give my greatest thanks for the scholarship you gave me because it made it that much easier for me to go, and actually, I don't know if I would have been able to attend the program without it. Vielen Dank.

3rd Place Winner: Meghann Sachs, Lawrence Central HS, Indianapolis, IN
Liebe IASG,
Meghann Sachs, Lawrence Central H.S.
